According to a survey in 2024 on online shopping behavior among Indians, the average size of the shopping basket for home and kitchen items in urban areas amounted to over 5000 Indian rupees, compared to over 6000 rupees for the rest of India. Meanwhile, the shopping basket for urban dwellers was slightly higher in the sports and fitness segment compared to the figures for the rest of India.

Urban dwellers comprised of the metro (population over 50 lakhs) and Tier 1 cities (population between 10–50 lakhs), which include Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Surat, Nashik, Nagpur, Bhopal, Allahabad, Jaipur, Madurai, Mysore, Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Chandigarh.
Rest of India comprised Tier 2/3/4 cities, which include Aizawl, Sangli, Solapur, Jhansi, Ferozabad, Nellore, Kasaragod, Siliguri, Sagar, Darjeeling, Hingoli, Nagda, Bhatinda, Sohna, Thiruvallur, Idukki, Sahibganj.
One Indian rupee is equal to 0.011 euros and 0.012 dollars (as of April 2024).
