According to an online survey conducted in December 2023, 80 percent of the respondents across six countries in Latin America stated that they would consider changing their bank if they knew their bank invested in companies affiliated with organized crime. Companies that contribute to environmental disasters, child labor, logging, the weapons industry, and conflict minerals were also identified as the most unpopular investment areas by over 70 percent of the respondents. In contrast, less than 50 percent of the participants stated that they would potentially change their banks if they knew their bank was investing in oil companies.

The survey was conducted through an online panel with respondents from the following countries: Argentina (400), Brazil (816), Chile (411), Colombia (403), Mexico (806), Peru (397).
