As of January 2024, almost 72 percent of Indonesian respondents bought cryptocurrency for long-term investment. According to Indonesia's Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), there were 18.25 million Indonesian cryptocurrency users as of November 2023. Due to the rising interests in digital currencies, Indonesia officially launched the world's first state-backed cryptocurrency bourse in July 2023.
