The common equity tier 1 (CET1) capital of the banking industry in Portugal reached its highest point in the second quarter of 2023 with 28.97 billion euros. CET1 reached its lowest value in the fourth quarter of 2016, with 25.58 billion euros. After that, a generally upward trend began, albeit with fluctuations, namely during the fourth quarter of 2018, when another sharp decrease occurred.
