Air quality funding in India FY 2019-2023, by select city
India launched the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) in 2019, with the aim of reducing particulate pollution by up to 30 percent by 2024 from 2017 levels. In the five years since its launch, the NCAP disbursed approximately Rs 9,650 Cr to 131 non-attainment cities. Greater Mumbai was allocated the most funds during this period, at Rs 938 Cr, of which just over 70 percent was utilized. In comparison, Bengaluru had utilized just one percent of the funds it was allocated.
