Cumulative GHG emissions in the UK 1854-2022, by company
BP and Shell are the United Kingdom's biggest historical greenhouse gas polluters, having emitted 42.5 and 40 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e) throughout their history, respectively. Combined, these seven fossil fuel producers are responsible for more than 100 GtCO₂e being pumped into the atmosphere between 1854 and 2022.
