Advantages of online shopping in Hungary 2023

Nearly half of surveyed Hungarians found the comparability of prices and ease of finding the best offer one of the biggest advantages of online shopping in 2023. At the same time, 47 percent of respondents liked to shop online because they could access products located on the other side of the country. 

When do Hungarians buy their groceries online?

Even if online grocery shopping is far from becoming the norm, it has been increasing in popularity. In 2023, most Hungarians tended to order groceries online when they were ill or did not have enough time to go to the store due to other activities. However, 27 percent of the respondents did their regular monthly grocery shopping online.

Who prefers to shop online?

Both online and in-store shopping have their advantages and disadvantages. However, there is a clear trend when it comes to the preferences of different age groups, with younger generations opting for online shopping. In 2022, over 60 percent of Hungarians between the ages of 18 and 29 years preferred to shop online. By comparison, in the 45 to 59-year-old age group, 57 percent preferred in-store shopping, while, in the case of 60 to 79-year-olds, this figure reached 75 percent.
