News sites blocking AI crawlers worldwide 2023, by weekly reach

By the end of 2023, more than 40 percent of the top 15 news websites in 10 countries worldwide were blocking OpenAI crawlers, and among those with a weekly online reach of 20 percent or more, the share blocking these crawlers was as high as 52 percent. News sites were overall less likely to block Google's AI crawlers, but again, weekly reach affected the likelihood of them doing so.
