Cumulative GHG emissions of state-owned companies worldwide 1854-2022
Saudi Aramco was the state-owned entity with the highest cumulative GHG emissions between 1854 and 2022, with more than 68 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e) produced between these years. The Russian state-owned gas company Gazprom followed, having emitted more than 50 GtCO₂e. Combined, these 10 state-owned entities have released more than 300 GtCO₂e into the atmosphere since 1854.
