In 2023, the number of sexual crimes had decreased from the previous year by more than a hundred cases. 2013 had the largest number of violations, with 724 such reported crimes.

In this statistic, sexual crime is categorized into rape, sexual offenses against children, violations of shame, sexual harassment and violations of sexual privacy, sex work, pictures, videos, and other material relating to children, other, and pornography.
In Iceland, purchasing sex is illegal and so is printing and distributing pornography. During 2013 and 2019, the police instigated different initiatives to deal with sex work, hence the increased number of crimes reported in those years.
