Long-term affordability and environmental friendliness are the main reasons for Thai consumers who consider buying an electric car. According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight on January 2024, about 85 percent of female, and 80 percent of male Thai respondents stated that they preferred an electric car over a conventional one because it is affordable to power eventually.

The survey was conducted between January 19 to 31, 2024 among a total of 15,528 Thai respondents aged 16 years and older. Other surveyed countries include China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
