Most of the Thai consumers are only willing to pay the same price as conventional cars for an electric car. According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in January 2024, only 11 percent of male, and nine percent of female Thai respondents would pay up to 50 percent more for an electric car.

The survey was conducted between January 19 to 31, 2024 among a total of 15,528 Thai respondents aged 16 years and older. Other surveyed countries include China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
