The share of women on boards in the financial services industry in Italy experienced a significant increase between 2018 and 2023. In 2018, 29.2 percent of the directors in financial services were female. By 2021, the share of women on boards increased to 36 percent. As of 2023, Italy became one of the leading European countries in terms of gender diversity on boards of directors, with 42.1 percent of the board seats held by women.
