In 2023, Alaska had the highest share of colorful cars within its used car market when compared to other U.S. states. The Northern state had some 27.3 percent of colorful used cars, while Hawaii had the lowest share of colorful cars at 16.3 percent. Around 40 states in the US had a colorful car share of more than 20 percent. Colorful cars included all colors of cars except black, gray, silver, and white.

The source analysed more than 10 million used cars aged between 1 an 5 years old and which were sold from January to August 2023. To find the most common car color nationwide, in each state, and in each metro region, data on the color of each car and the sale location were combined.
The source does not specify a publication date. The date of access to the data was set as the release date.
