In 2022, more than 9.5 million kilometers were covered on station-based shared bikes in Italy. While this was an increase from the previous year, it did not match the distance covered in 2019, which stood at 12.9 million kilometers.
In station-based bike-sharing schemes, hired bikes have to be returned to the station from which they were picked up or dropped off at another designated hire station.
