The 2024 Women's March Madness championship game attracted a record average TV audience of approximately 18.9 million viewers in the United States. While South Carolina emerged victorious over Iowa, it was the latter's guard Caitlin Clark who had stolen headlines in the leadup to the competition, having broken the all-time leading points scorer record in NCAA college basketball. As well as featuring a star in the making, the 2024 women's final also exceeded the men's final's TV audience for the first time in history, having drawn over four million more viewers.
