When updating their kitchen islands between 2023 and 2024, four in five U.S. homeowners opted for drawers to store their kitchen items. About the same share of respondents chose cabinets with doors, and only two percent had kitchen islands installed with no storage space.

Percentages reflect proportion of homeowners who are updating cabinets as part of their completed, current or planned kitchen renovation during 2023/2024. Respondents reported they were homeowners and had completed a kitchen remodel or addition in the past 12 months, were currently working on one, or planned to start one in the next three months.
