In 2023, the country with the most overnight stays in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, after Portugal itself, was the United States, with almost 2.4 million overnight stays. Spain was second with almost 1.5 million, followed by France with more than 1.4 overnight stays. Almost 1.4 million of the tourists staying in Lisbon overnight were from Brazil, while more than 1.2 million were from Germany.
