Between 2010 and 2021, the average length of hospital stay for patients of digestive system diseases in Spain stood between five and six days. From 2010 to 2015, there was a slight shortening from 5.7 to 5.4 days, after which the time allotted to people suffering from digestive system diseases in Spanish hospitals increased to 5.6 days and remained as such for the subsequent three years. The average length of hospital stay peaked in 2020, reaching 5.9 days, after which it dropped back to 5.7 days.
