Australia: outbound tourists by state of residence 2024

Residents of New South Wales accounted for the largest number of outbound tourists from Australia in July 2024, with over 602,300 departures recorded. In comparison, there were only around 17,200 departures of residents from Tasmania that same month. Outbound travel from Australia has made a strong recovery following the lows witnessed in 2020 and 2021 amid the pandemic.
