Cumulative forest-related carbon flux in the United States 2001-2022
Forests in the United States released a total of 18 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e) between 2001 and 2022. During this same period, a total of 31.9 GtCO₂e were absorbed by forests, representing cumulative net carbon removals of 13.9 GtCO₂e.
