In 2021, around 80.4 complete mastectomies were performed in South Korea per 100,000 women. This is a surgical procedure to one or both breasts, with surrounding tissue such as lymph nodes sometimes also being removed. This is commonly performed as a treatment for breast cancer or preventatively in high-risk individuals. Breast cancer is one of the leading types of cancer among women in South Korea.
