According to a survey conducted in mid-2023, 38 percent of American adults preferred subtitles on while watching TV in a language they know. Hispanic Americans and 18 to-29-year-olds showed a higher tendency to use subtitles than other demographic groups, with over half of respondents having subtitles on when watching TV in a known language.
