A 2024 survey of end users and IT professionals worldwide revealed that simplicity was the main factor motivating users to prioritize cybersecurity, as highlighted by 94 percent of respondents. Policies that use rewards or recognition ranked second, mentioned by just under 90 percent of respondents. By contrast, policies using punishment, such as reduction in pay or bonus removal only motivated around 70 percent of respondents to prioritize cybersecurity.
