As of 2022, there were a total of 127 investments in the Islamic banking sector in the United Arab Emirates. Of these 127, 124 investments were made in sukuk, and three in equity. Since 2020, investments in equity have remained stagnant at three each year. Investments in sukuk on the other hand, have seen consistent growth each year.

Sukuk: Is a financial product complying with sharia law. It is a financial certificate comparable to a bond, which allows the issuer to sell those sukuks to investors in order to purchase any assets of which investors have a partial ownership. The sukuk issuer is contractually bound to buy back those sukuks at a future date as per value. The main difference between a sukuk and a conventional bond is the abstention from accumulating interest.
