Get in touch with us nowIn 2023, 475,171 foreign citizens lived in the metropolitan city of Milan. In particular, Egyptian nationals constituted the largest foreign community with 66,000 residents. Romania ranked in the second place with 50,000 people, followed by the Philippines and China, with respectively 46,600 and 43,000 inhabitants. Moreover, around 29,600 immigrants had Peruvian origin. By comparing these findings with the main nationalities of foreign citizens in Italy, a countertrend emerges. In fact, in the same year, Egypt comprised only the ninth country of origin of nationwide immigrants, while Romania, Morocco, and Albania were the most represented states. On the contrary, except for the eastern European republic, foreigners coming from the two nations constituted less than five percent each of the immigrant population in Milan and neighboring municipalities.
