Government spending on food, fuel, and fertilizer subsidies witnessed an average estimated decline of around 22 percent in the financial year 2024 as compared to previous year. Both food and fertilizer subsidies were slashed by over 20 percent for the fiscal year 2024. The three major subsidies are crucial in containing India's fiscal deficit.
