In fact, from 44.3 years old at the beginning of the decade, the average age rose to 46 years old in 2024, 1.7 years more than in 2010. Furthermore, the aging of the population is confirmed by the share of inhabitants aged 65 years old or more, which significantly expanded during the same time frame. However, the metropolitan area remains under the Italian median age, corresponding to 46.6 years old for 2024.
