In the following years, the number of deaths decreased, settling in 2022 at the pre-COVID-19 levels, even though with an increasing trend. It is worth noticing that in the same time frame, the number of births never exceeded 25,000 newcomers. Hence, the resident population of the metropolitan city has been reduced by 12,000 persons on average each year.
