In 2023, the South Korean government revealed that it planned to aggressively expand the number of service robots in the manufacturing and service industries by 2030. In particular, 300,000 units was the benchmark set for healthcare and food service sectors. As of 2023, the number of service robots in active operation stood at around 63 thousand units.
