Real-time payments in Spain were predicted to grow by 400 percent between 2023 and 2028, as instant payments become more important in the country. Approximately eight percent of the overall payments mix in the country - including both cash and cashless - is anticipated to be an instant payment by 2028. The source adds this equals a CAGR of 29.6 percent between the five years under consideration. One of the main instigators of this trend is Bizum, a payment service that is embedded within Spanish banking apps. A2A payment spending with Bizum was over 50 percent higher in 2022 compared to the previous year.
