According to a survey conducted among food businesses in Japan in 2022, approximately 58 percent of responding businesses stated that they are saving all records of shipments for their products. Around 23 percent of responding businesses answered that no records of shipments are being saved.

The records of shipments include records such as the “shipment date,” “destination,” “item name,” and “quantity” of products.
The methods of preservation can include entries in “ledgers” or other forms of written records, electronic data stored on computers, duplicates of shipping invoices to confirm shipment quantities, “delivery receipts” and “packing slips” provided by the recipient, and “waybills” issued by transportation companies.
