Over half of Deutschlandticket holders had their ticket as a digital ticket on their phone as of July 2023. Smart cards were the second most popular option at 38 percent. Paper tickets only played a marginal role, making up ten percent of tickets held.
The Deutschlandticket is a public transport ticket that allows access to local and regional public transport across Germany for 49 euros per month. It was introduced in May 2023.
