Views on abortion classification based on reproductive experiences in the U.S. 2020
In 2020, during a survey when U.S. adults were presented with a scenario where a person took an abortion pill before taking a pregnancy test, 29 percent of respondents agreed that it is an abortion, another 23 percent stated it is maybe an abortion, while 37 percent did not consider it as abortion. Overall, the study highlighted Americans' lack of knowledge regarding reproductive experiences and ambiguity around the understanding of abortion. As the research was completed in 2020, before the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. It is possible that public awareness of reproductive health has increased in the years since the legal and political landscape saw a significant shift.
