In 2023, approximately 51 percent of chief executive officers (CEOs) surveyed in the United States reported thinking short tenure is a sign of chief marketing officers (CMOs) succeeding in their role. In the two previous years, that share did not surpass 20 percent. According to the same study, U.S. CEOs expected marketing to help them create new customers, retain existing ones, and drive revenue growth.
