In 2023, approximately 54 percent of chief executive officers (CEOs) surveyed in the United States reported being aware that chief marketing officers (CMOs) had the shortest tenure in the C-suite. In the two previous years, that share did not surpass 46 percent. According to the same study, U.S. CEOs expected marketing to help them generate new customers, retain existing ones, and drive revenue growth.
