Under the PM-KUSUM scheme of solarization of water pumps, the southern region of India had the highest installations as of December 2023. The PM-KUSUM scheme is aimed at ensuring energy security for farmers in India, along with honoring India's commitment to increase the share of installed capacity of electric power from non-fossil-fuel sources.
