According to a survey conducted in August 2023 in Japan, the share of respondents who stated to frequently visit family restaurants and fast food shops for coffee amounted to 27.4 percent. This was the type of shop that attracted the highest share of coffee consumers, followed by Western-style coffee shop chains.

Frequent goers were defined by the source as persons belonging to one of the following three categories:
Persons who go almost every day to coffee shops.
Persons who go multiple times per week to coffee shops.
Persons who go multiple times per month to coffee shops.
