In December 2023, user engagement with action video game Grand Theft Auto V surged to 31.4 million monthly active users across PC and consoles after the popular games successor, Grand Theft Auto VI, was finally announced officially. GTAV is one of the most popular video games worldwide, having sold more than 195 million units worldwide since its first release in 2013. As of June 2024, GTA5 had 25.11 million MAU.
