In 2022, the participation of women in unpaid domestic work in Brazil is higher than that of men. In the case of unemployment, Brazilian women did an average of 24.5 hours of domestic work, while men did slightly more than half with 13.4 hours.

The source grouped household chores into eight sets, identified as: preparing or serving food, setting the table, or doing the dishes; cleaning or caring for clothing and shoes; making minor repairs or maintaining the home, car, appliances, or other equipment; cleaning or tidying the home, garage, yard, or garden; organizing the home; shopping or researching prices for household items; caring for pets; and other household chores.
