In 2021, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) obtained just over 84 percent of its water revenue from private customers. On the other hand, revenue collected from water sold to ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) in the country amounted to only 6.6 percent. By 2027, the ratio of collected revenues from private and public customers in the country is expected to increase to 98 percent and 100 percent, respectively. According to the source, intensifying collection efforts, such as disconnecting defaulting customers, would contribute to the said growth.
