In 2021, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) charged its private customers a total of over one billion Ghanaian cedis (about 85 million U.S. dollars), for water supply. However, it only collected approximately 892 million Ghanaian cedis (71.4 million U.S. dollars), roughly 84 percent of the charged costs.
