Price difference of animal and vegan products Germany 2023 to 2024, by food retailer

On average, vegan products were around 16 percent more expensive than their animal counterparts in German grocery stores in 2024. The price difference between vegan and animal products was particularly high at Edeka, with a difference of 60 percent. Only at Lidl was the vegan basket three percent cheaper than the animal-based basket in 2024.
