Global coal production in 2030 is expected to be 460 percent higher than the production volume needed to stay within a 1.5 degrees Celsius consistent pathway. Overall, the total fossil fuel production gap between government plans and global warming mitigation targets is forecast to be 110 percent for a 1.5 degrees pathway and 69 percent for a two degrees pathway.
