According to a recent study, the share of renewables in Latin America's electricity generation is forecast to increase from 57 percent in 2021 to 54 percent in 2050 in a scenario based on the historic trajectory of the region's energy sector. If additional measures are taken to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the share of renewables in electricity production is projected to reach roughly 80 percent by that year.
