According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2023, around 36 percent of respondents stated that they did not want to donate organs due to a vague fear surrounding it. Other common reasons included not wanting to damage one's body and the potential that brain death was falsely declared. The same study found that less than half of respondents were willing to donate organs if declared brain-dead.
