In 2022, around 5.6 million women in South Korea underwent a cervical cancer screening. The largest share of them, at about 3.3 million, were diagnosed with inflammatory or infectious diseases. Nearly 19,000 people were suspected to be in the precursor stages of cervical cancer, while 489 people were suspected to already have developed cancer.
