In the period between January and March 2023, political advertisements on television in India grew exponentially. Political ad insertions in March grew by 46 percent, the highest growth rate in that quarter. The surge in political advertising was as a result of assembly elections to be held in five Indian states that year and the general elections looming ahead in 2024.
