The East Asia and Pacific region received by far the most methane abatement finance worldwide in 2021 and 2022, at about five billion U.S. dollars. This was followed by the United States and Canada, with methane abatement investments amounting to an average of 2.46 billion U.S. dollars per year. These two regions combined were responsible for some 38 percent of global methane emissions.
