Share of the population unable to afford a healthy diet in Japan 2017-2021
In 2021, around two percent of the Japanese population was unable to afford a healthy diet. A healthy diet consists of various minimally processed and safe foods of plant origins and, in moderation, animal-based foods that provide essential nutrients and energy. The daily cost per person stood at around 5.6 PPP dollars, with almost three million people being unable to afford the price.
